Hey friend!

I'm Jessica: wife, mom, photographer, educator

I'm a creative girl boss, obsessed with wedding photography and videography. I have a degree in education and want to bring that into the creative industry by teaching other bosses how to make their dreams come true! When I'm not working, my days are filled with long walks down every aisle of Target while sipping my Pink Drink and listening to my newest playlist. It's the small things!

JBP is hiring a wedding assistant!

Sioux City Wedding Photographer hiring permanent wedding day assistant

I always dreamed of shooting weddings full time! But I never actually thought I could get to this point! My calendar is packed with 25 to 30 weddings a year! This is the definition of #blessed! With the growing amount of committed Saturday events, I am opening applications for hiring a permanent wedding day assistant!

As much as I love when my husband assists me on wedding days, it’s no longer realistic for me to ask him to work 40 hours during the week and an additional 10+ every Saturday! I also have two very trusted friends who assist (shoutout to Kellie and Taylor), but as they build lives and careers of their own, their time is limited. See what it’s like Behind The Scenes!

This (and many other reasons) has me excited to announce that I am hiring a permanent wedding day assistant!

  • Commit to at least 8 Saturday weddings within a calendar year *not negotiable*
  • Able to be on feet and working for 8 to 12 hours with limited down time
  • Not currently be running their own wedding photography business, nor interested in starting one in the near future.
  • Able to carry supplies and gear, as well as a camera bag weighing 10-20 pounds
  • Comfortable speaking in front of large groups (think family photo time)
  • Able to track progress throughout the wedding day timeline
  • Interested in learning minimal photographic skills in order to assist shooting during key points of the day (getting ready, ceremony, sunset portraits)
  • Willing to take direction directly from me
  • Can drive to and from wedding locations, as well as possibly drive my vehicle moving it from ceremony to reception
  • Trainable on how to setup lighting equipment
  • A “people person” who can maintain composure in front of clients even when under high pressure situations
  • Hard worker and able to take initiative

A servant spirit, light hearted sense of humor, and an ability to be authentic are the cornerstones of the Jessica Brees brand. I’m looking for a cheerful, energetic, self-starting, dedicated person to love on our clients and make them feel at ease during the stress of a wedding day. I plan to teach this individual all the specific skills needed to maneuver the obstacles that naturally come with along with a wedding. I will also be teaching minimal photography skills, such as composition and light selection.

The person that would be most fitting for this position will have an impeccable work ethic, is willing to put clients first and have a love for weddings! As the Wedding Assistant, you will become part of the family and I am asking for a 6-12 month commitment. Along with the hourly pay rate, I often provide large Starbucks Pink Drinks, popcorn and of course, gluten free cupcakes. Some out of state opportunities may also be available if interested in travel.
