I'm Jessica (my friends call me Breezy) and I am a photographer serving the Sioux City area.

I am so happy to finally be writing my annual recap for 2018…especially considering we are already two weeks into 2019. What’s the saying: better late than ugly? No, that’s what a student said to me when they were late for Student Council once. I mean “better late than never.”
2018 was a huge year for Jessica Brees Photography as I shot 27 weddings and 78 individual portrait sessions! I learned so much my head is often spinning and got to work with the most incredible people. My clients are awesome! They are genuine, down to earth people who let me be myself in order to achieve my style of artistic imagery! I truly appreciate every single person that hired me last year and who has helped me get this far! If you asked me three years ago, when I was still teaching, if I could imagine myself working my photography business full time I would have laughed. But now here I am, absolutely blown away that this is my reality! Thank you all so much!
Now for what you really came to see: all the embarrassing photos from “behind the scenes!” Here is a little glimpse at what 2018 looked like from my shoes. We will start with the standard photos of me doing the work:
Sometimes I get in the way of others doing the work…
I’ve shot in a lot of snow this year…
Shooting in snow and sweltering heat…
This year we ordered branded shirts and I loved being able to wear those to photo sessions in the summer!
Office work and studio work…
This year Jaxon became much more interested in photography and I have tried to teach him what I can! He might have the eye for it, but is still working on the attention span!
I am not joking when I say I will do anything “for the shot” and sometimes that includes laying on the ground, standing on a table, or even sitting on the hood of my car.
I had some amazing assistance in 2018! Three of the best people in my life rotated through helping me on wedding days: my husband, Jason, and two of my best friends, Taylor and Kellie. Taylor is up first because she has the most entertaining behind the scenes photos…hopefully she doesn’t stop working with me now that I’ve posted this.
Taylor has some incredible modeling skills that I’ve never seen. The poses are just…indescribable.
She also loves animals, busts a dang good move on the dance floor, and has a killer sweet tooth by the end of a long day.
Remember I said sometimes I get in her way? Well, sometimes she gets in mine too! But this reflection photo is actually one of my favorite BTS photos of the entire year! Winner!
Kellie got the chance to shoot two weddings with me this year. We sweat A LOT those days and had some bad luck with mosquito bites. It hasn’t stopped her from loving weddings yet!
Not sure she loves carrying the equipment though!
Last, but most certainly not least, is Jason! My dear sweet husband who has encouraged me so much that I’ve come this far in my business…and I am going to thank him by posting unflattering photos of him on the internet for all to see. Your welcome, sweetheart! I love you so much!
Not sure he will try a cigar again after this…
He was so helpful pulling weeds, hiding construction markers, and holding all of the bouquets.
He has learned how to style a gown and shoot photos even better than me!
I love that he is proud of me and will wear my branded shirts on wedding days and even on date nights sometimes! I also love that he is confident enough to haul my pink floral backpack around! That’s true love, friends!
Jaxon made mini figures of Jason and I out of legos. Are you surprised I have a camera and a pink drink and Jason is dressed like Captain America holding all the money? I think Jaxon hit the nail on the head with that one!
Sometimes my clients want to take photos with me and I absolutely love that! They are so good to me, I can never thank them all enough!
I thought the best way to finish this round up blog post is by sharing a portrait Taylor took of me on one of our work days. She captured me in my happiest state in one of my favorite places on earth. Thank you Taylor, I absolutely love this photo!
If you are getting married in 2019, I am looking to take on four more wedding days and would love the opportunity to meet you! Please go here for more information about the JBP Breezy Bride Experience!
