Y’all are going to have all the heart eyes with this gorgeous wedding!! I am not even exaggerating friends!! Wyatt and Michelle’s wedding at the Old Lumber Yard was straight out of a mid-west magazine. Just look at all of her bridesmaids in navy with the blanket scarves!! And of course, the Mamrelund Church was an absolute stunning venue for outdoor portraits!
While this wedding day was amazing on all levels, it was also very challenging for me! I had not yet met Wyatt and Michelle, as I did not shoot their engagement photos. So, I was trying to gain their trust and make connections right away, while also getting the most out of my photography time that I could. Also, it’s November in the mid-west, and that means the day was sunny but very chilly! It was hard for everyone to stay outside longer than 15 minutes at a time it seemed, so we had to work in chunks!
All obstacles aside, I loved spending the day with Wyatt and Michelle! They each have a great sense of humor and a down to earth attitude that was easy to enjoy right off the bat! Wyatt’s groomsmen were non-stop jokes and laughter. I loved watching those two giggle together when Wyatt pulled a blue shop towel out of his jacket pocket during the first look. And when Michelle unrolled a long “Santa’s List” looking sheet of paper at the beginning of her vows, I literally laughed out loud in the back of the church!
On top of everything, the sentimental family touches were incredibly beautiful! Connections to all of their grandparents were evident throughout the entire day! Michelle wore her Grandmother’s pearl necklace and had special purple and yellow flowers in her bouquet for each of her grandmothers. Wyatt’s wedding band was cast from an exact mold of his Grandfather’s ring! I’ve never seen anything like that before. He also received his Grandpa’s pocket watch from his father right after the first look and he was brought to tears.
Thank you both for trusting me to capture your wedding details. I know with all the circumstances I wasn’t your first choice, but truly hope you love your images in the end! I loved being part of your special day!
