I had been looking forward to Jacob and Brea’s wedding at the Little Sioux Event Center for months! Every chance I got, I was texting Brea and she was telling me about their plans and decor ideas. I could not wait to see everything come together!
I could not have imagined a better day for their wedding! The sun was out, the temperature was tolerable, and everyone was in amazing spirits! I walked into the salon early in the morning and instantly heard the joyful chatter amongst all the ladies. The excitement was overflowing. I loved watching the bridesmaids look on as Brea hair was styled, and she gushed about how beautiful everything was going to be. I remember her telling me that “when she put her shoes on, the hem of her gown pooled by her feet and would look like floating on a cloud!” If there was ever a romantic, fairytale of a wedding – this was exactly it!
Jacob was just as happy and excited. I asked him if he was nervous, and he said of course he wasn’t, he just couldn’t wait to see his bride! His smile was beaming and he was making jokes the entire time we shot getting ready photos and some portraits. The moment of their first look was my absolute favorite! I’ve never seen such a huge smile on a groom’s face as he turned around and saw Brea for the first time. Even though he was speechless, he somehow managed to say “WOW” after seeing her gown and everything!
There was one thing I’ve gotten myself stuck on – the wheelbarrow.
The tradition stands at the lutheran church that every groom walks her bride down the road in a wheelbarrow. The best part {the sentimental goodness that I adore} is that Jacob’s grandparents were the ones that created the tradition! Following the ceremony, Jacob and Brea walked out of the church doors, being showered with white confetti. Jacob picked his new bride up into his arms and put her in an antique metal wheelbarrow. The guests were cheering and throwing more confetti as the newlyweds walked away!
The reason I am stuck is because I spent a few hours Googling where the wheelbarrow tradition originally started, or what story gave Jacob’s grandparents the idea. But I came up empty handed! If anyone knows about the tradition, I would love to learn it!
Congratulations again Jacob and Brea! Thank you for trusting me enough to capture these precious memories for you and I absolutely loved spending the day with you! I hope you’re loving Florida, and love this peek into your wedding photos even more!
I always enjoy getting to work alongside Kevin of Kevin Thayer Films! There is a trailer of their wedding film before all the photos from their day as well! Happy viewing!
