I am so happy that Taylor trusted me to be the photographer for their Sioux City wedding at the Delta Hotel. It was the perfect backdrop for their classy wedding with navy and dusty blue accents! Every wedding I shoot is unique and special, and every couple I work with becomes dear friends. However, this wedding in particular was extra special for me because the bride, Taylor, has become one of my best friends after moving here to Iowa.
A little over two years ago, I found Taylor’s name on a roster for an online photography course and immediately sent her a friend request on Facebook. She tells me she was a little taken aback, but went for it anyway. The two of us have bonded over our mutual love for our German Shorthair Pointers and quirky personalities, as well as supported one another in growing our businesses. We sometimes have the smallest disagreements over when popcorn should be eaten: I’m on the side of eating it hot right out of the microwave, and Taylor seems to think it tastes better the next day.
Taylor is a free spirit deep down to her core, like I am. However, she is the has the purest and kindest heart of anyone I know. I may be biased, but I think Jacob hit the jackpot with his new bride! They complete each other in the best ways, filling in the gaps where the other is lacking. Jacob seems to be able to ground Taylor and she brings out his fun side!
As far as details of their Sioux City wedding go, Taylor nailed it all! Jacob may disagree, but the custom enamel pins are just pure perfection! I am so glad that we included their fur-baby Annie and that she got her own flower collar! She surprised us all by being incredibly well behaved and I hope doggie-daycare gave her extra treats that day! Taylor created a lot of her own wedding decor! She used an Ipad to convert her own handwriting into files to be printed out on the invitations and even on the large acrylic signs all around the reception!
Since I love Jacob and Taylor so much I feel like I could gush on and on over their marriage and their wedding, but I know the real reason everyone opens the blog posts is to see photos. So, I will simply congratulate them once again and I hope you enjoy the peek into their wedding day! I also shot a full wedding film for their day, and here is their sneak peek trailer!
These wedding portraits from their parents and grandparents were the sweetest touches to their reception!
They are huge ISU fans, meeting there and getting engaged there. What a fun groom’s cake!
