Rustic Small Town Engagement Session | Spencer Iowa Wedding PhotographerI shot engagement photos near Spencer, in the small town of Peterson, back on June 6 with Jacob and Brea. A few hours before the session, I had texted them to ask if it would be okay to bring my son. While I was a bit hesitant about the request, both Jacob and Brea were incredibly gracious and told me it was fine.
It may have been a bit much to juggle Jaxon and the session, but he provided endless entertainment. He told us countless stories about all his Toy Story characters. Thank you Jacob and Brea for allowing him to come along and snag some extra evening time with me!
I loved this session because we combined a spot I’ve always wanted to try shooting, at a place that’s near and dear to them. We started at an old trestle bridge covered in vines near Linn Grove. It was a bit tough to find because the floodwaters back then were still high. We made the best of it and got some amazing images.
However, the real magic came when I hopped in the truck and rode along to their family cabin. We drove up this steep hill (which made me a little too nervous), but I should have trusted Jacob. He had done it a million times, I am sure. This spot was so personal for them because it is where Jacob got down on one knee and asked Brea to be his wife.
The view was absolutely stunning, and the memories there were priceless. Sharing this location made me tremendously happy and allowed the opportunity to capture memorable portraits at this special spot.
Their wedding is coming up at the end of November and I absolutely cannot wait! Hoping the weather holds off and we don’t already have snow by then! Fingers crossed, y’all!
