Hey!

andy & amanda | des moines, iowa

Why did I not blog this engagement session earlier?! I mean, you will be asking the same thing in a few short minutes once you see this bright, colorful, cheery gallery!

If I am still on track with the wedding lineup, that puts Andy and Amanda next. Their wedding day is coming up quick on June 2 and I am on pins and needles! They are getting married at Summerset Winery near Des Moines and anything with the word wine, I mean winery in it makes me happy! And Amanda has this beautiful, classic style that I cannot wait to see come to life at their wedding day! I just know it’s going to be photographer heaven!

We shot their engagement session back at the end of last summer (yep, fully admitting I was that bad at blogging last year…) and if I remember correctly we were a bit sweaty and muggy, but laughed the entire time! We started at the prettiest rose garden I’ve seen in a while and they promptly showed me the “egg” wall, which I found highly amusing (yep, fully admitting I have the sense of humor of a 12 year old…). Next, they showed me this beautiful pond at the end of a long downhill driveway and I could have shot the entire session in just that location! Other than the lounging teenager who was all too chatty about his own photo knowledge, it was absolutely perfect! It cooled down in the shade, the bugs hadn’t come out yet, and the end of summer colors were stunning! I struggled with two things here: 1) I was incredibly paranoid that I was going to walk backwards right off the dock and into the water and 2) Andy is SO much taller than me! At this point in the year I had not yet started my long term relationship with Julio the stoolio and I was so off balance trying to match his height!

We finished the session on the railroad tracks near their apartment. Before I get any messages, I know this is frowned upon as of recent, but I promise between my paranoia and my complete inability to break rules or lie, we were cautious and one hundred percent respectful of the area! We shot a few poses and promptly got off the tracks. I just could not resist that summer sunset! All clients know that the last ten minutes of golden hour is my JAM!

I could go on and on about how much I love these two, but I am going to save the super mushy stuff for their wedding post coming up in just two months! For now, enjoy their engagement gallery!

Are you getting married in 2019 and starting your search for the perfect photographer? I would love to chat about all things wedding and see if I am good fit! Click here for more information.
