Nick and Shonden’s intimate wedding at The Red Barn was the absolute perfect way to kickoff the 2020 wedding season!!!!!!! It was a pleasant surprise with unseasonably mild weather for the end of February. Other than a bit of wind, it was a gorgeous sunny day. Total perfection for a late winter wedding. 🌞
This wedding was also a great kickoff to the season because it reminded me of the core values behind the work I love to do. Some weddings I shoot are elaborately decorated, and others are more simple affairs focused on personalized details. As a photographer it’s easy to get wrapped up in fancy shoes and fluffy flowers, forgetting the real reason for the celebration. After Nick and Shonden’s wedding, I am reminded that no matter how you choose to celebrate and decorate, the most important thing is the marriage that comes after. One of the main messages behind my brand is valuing a beautiful marriage more than just a beautiful wedding day. Nick and Shonden are a perfect example of a couple that consistently prioritize a strong relationship.
Watching the spark between these two was a breath of fresh air. They could not take their eyes off each other, continuously took care of each other, and shared the sweetest moments of laughter. Nick was an adoring groom and Shonden was ecstatic to be marrying the love of her life. I loved the unique, personal touches throughout the day: Shonden’s grandparents’ rings tied into her bouquet, the romantic vows they wrote for each other, and the scratch ticket bridal party gifts “for richer, or poorer”. The entire day was uniquely Nick and Shonden, and I am honored they chose to include me.
Congratulations again to the new Mr. and Mrs.!! Thank you so much for trusting me with capturing these precious memories. I hope you love this little peek at your wedding photos as much as I do!!
