I had not met Nick and Shonden in person before their ice fishing engagement photos, so I didn’t quite know what to expect. I knew Shonden would be a fiery, fun lady but didn’t expect Nick to be just as sassy and entertaining. These two are hilarious and together they are full of endless laughs and so much adoration for each other.

Their wedding is coming up this weekend, on February 29. It will be an intimate event with closest friends and family and I cannot wait to spend the day with them!

For their engagement session, I was not as excited. Don’t get me wrong, I was ecstatic to meet them in person, but I was so nervous as they had asked to do part of the session with an ice fishing theme. I have never been on a frozen lake or pond before and was a bit ANXIOUS! 

When we were walking out on the pond, I struggled a bit!! It had recently rained and the top layer of all snow was a bit slushy. So every step we took, our feet would sink in a little bit before hitting the ice. But I tell you what – your feet sinking in is NOT the feeling you want the first time walking onto a frozen body of water!!

But in the end, we had an absolute BLAST!! I loved experiencing something new and learning so much about them in the process!! We are still secretly hoping the “You Betcha Guy” will see this ice fishing session and share it…because you gotta love winter hobbies in the midwest, amiright?!?!
