Hey!

Busy season ran me over like a freight train this last year! I feel like from August to November I was shooting four or five nights a week and shooting weddings each weekend. Something had to give, and unfortunately my blog and social media game was the first thing to go! But…it’s the New Year and it’s a great time to wipe the slate and make a strong comeback!

So, the game plan is to show you all the gorgeous engagement sessions that I shot in 2017 in the order in which the couples will be getting married now in 2018! Up first is Austin and Makayla, who are getting married on March 17 in a Catholic church named St. Patrick’s! Don’t worry-Makayla has impeccable taste (I mean, she did choose to marry Austin!) and won’t let her wedding look too much like the St. Patrick’s Day section of Party City! She has some stunning ideas and I cannot wait to see how it all comes together in two months!

Looking back at their engagement session, boy-oh-boy it was a whirlwind day! Jason and I “road tripped” to Boone, Iowa to find Ledges State Park and when we got closer it was pouring rain!! So much rain that I was worried we would need to cancel the session even though we had driven down, but Austin and Makayla were sure they wanted to continue, even if it was under umbrellas! When we got out of the car to meet and greet, the rain actually stopped and the sun came out a little! We were excited, and started hiking around looking for the best backdrops for photos, which is when we realized that following the rain, it had gotten extremely humid! We were all drenched in sweat now, instead of raindrops! Oh my goodness, were they troopers though, because we hiked and hiked and they kept smiles on their faces the entire time!

Austin is the brother of a JBP Groom from back in October, Logan, and I just have to tease Logan one more time that Austin may be my favorite! All teasing aside, these two boys are the sweetest guys I’ve met in a long time and they sure know how to take care of their ladies! Makayla will be one lucky and stunning bride coming up in March! I can’t wait to see you guys on the wedding day!
