I will have to admit right away that I was incredibly nervous for Dan and Julianne’s wedding day! They live out of state and hired me in good faith after a Skype call, so I had never met them. I finally met them when they were in town visiting, and I went out to see the family farm where the wedding was going to take place. I knew that we would get along so well when we first met, but I was just a tad nervous since I had technically never shot them before! Dan seemed like a wild card and I wasn’t sure how things were going to go.
But I was in for the sweetest surprise, because Dan had the best attitude on wedding day! He participated and didn’t give me eye rolls with all of my ideas. He was on time, smiling and ready to go, which makes a photographer’s life so much easier! Dan – you’re the man!
Julianne had mailed me an invitation ahead of time (thanks, girl!) and so I was thinking the entire wedding would have blue accents, but I was so pleasantly surprised to see all shades of Burgundy and blush pink. Y’all know I am a sucker for pink! And I am going to spend a solid paragraph raving about the girls’ bouquets because I have literally never seen this before! They were real flowers, but they were dried. Not dried and crispy, but like vibrant and lively and dried. That’s my expert explanation and even I am impressed! But seriously, they were still fragrant, and soft to the touch, but they were dried and able to travel for the week ahead of the big day as Dan and Julianne drove to Iowa. How cool is that?
Also, I think it’s a general rule that every wedding must have twinkle lights (I’ve seen that written somewhere…) but Dan went above and beyond hanging ALL the lights for Julianne’s vision! They had twinkle lights on the antler chandelier, twinkle lights above the aisle, twinkle lights coming down from the pergola, and twinkle lights around the “bar” area where they did the champagne toast! It was the most beautiful design for the ceremony space…and you’ll see why later when I drop the little surprise! But for now, here is the beginning of the sneak peek!

And now for the little surprise…their wedding ceremony was at night, completely candlelit! Or, rather I should say twinkle light lit! Oh my goodness, it was the prettiest ceremony! So unique and romantic and I am so excited I got to be there with them for this!

And right after they were married, we toasted the Champagne and cheered them off with sparklers to end the day! It was so much fun!
