Future clients: let this blog post be a notice to trust me, when I say I have a vision! If I feel the need to cancel a session due to weather, I have a reason. Likewise, if I think we can still go with it, it’s for a reason! Dan and Courtney’s engagement session is the perfect example.
We had insanely strong wind, dark clouds, a little bit of rain, and some confusing lighting. But we pushed on and the images are a photographer’s dream! The way Courtney’s dress flowed and played in the wind almost tells a romantic story in itself! And the rain drops that surprised us for a few minutes? Such a fun addition to the background of those photos! It almost feels like a “Notebook” style moment, right?
It took me a minute to warm up to these two, as I was just feeling “off” that day. When I firsts introduced myself they told me they were a self proclaimed awkward couple, and so my first thought was “oh no, what do I do with this?” #noshame
But they were so wrong! What they view as awkward, I view as the sweetest, most genuine connection between the two of them. When they find themselves laughing at how “awkward” they are, I see them interacting in a dreamy way! Honestly, I feel like Dan and Courtney forgot that I was even there shooting a couple of times during the session – because walking through tick infested tall grass on a windy day all dressed up while holding hands and gazing at each other is a completely normal activity!
The most fun came at the end of the session when we stuck around in the parking lot for almost an extra hour and just chatted! We talked about trips to Chicago, financial goals, traveling dreams and all sorts of random topics. It was an instant connection and I know that their wedding day will be an absolute breeze for me! Seriously though, I have the best clients and they make my job so much fun and so easy to rock! I loved meeting you guys and I am so looking forward to your September wedding day!
