Coming to you on the blog today is Austin and Makayla’s March wedding, which is a serious contender for one of the most fun weddings I have ever had the chance to not only photograph, but to also attend. We had crazy weather, but for a Sparr wedding, I am not surprised! Remember Logan and Abby’s wedding day with downpours of autumn rain? Well this time around we had freezing rain and two inches of snow in the morning, following by bright sun that melted the snow into a muddy, sloppy mess!
Despite the bumps in the road, I can honestly say this group was pure fun! From 10 in the morning when we started the day to almost 9 in the evening, it was a non-stop stream of laughing, dancing and merrymaking. (Do people say “merrymaking” still? If not, this wedding is definitely bringing it back).
These two lovebirds met while attending college at Iowa State and have clearly been having the time of their lives ever since. And, as you’d expect, the bridesmaids and groomsmen were just as much fun. I mean, there are wedding parties… and then there are wedding PARTIES.
In the middle of all the shenanigans and laughter, I saw peeks of the absolutely sweetest moments! I cannot even find the right words to describe how Makayla looked at Austin the entire day through! Her face would just light up with the biggest smile I’ve ever seen on a bride anytime she was looking at him or interacting with him! I think that would be my favorite moments of the entire day. When I asked Makayla what her favorite memory from the day was she actually said the exact same thing! Makayla said she loved “seeing Austin’s face throughout the ceremony” and her favorite part was the moment they were first announced as Mr. and Mrs. Sparr!
Makayla’s dress was absolutely stunning! Would you believe me if I told you that she only went to one dress shop and only tried on three dresses total? She fell in love with the train and so did everyone else! The bridesmaids just could not help themselves, they were fluffing and straightening the train as much as possible throughout the day! And while we are talking about details, can I just throw in there that I love how Austin and Makayla kept with the St. Patrick’s Day theme but didn’t make it over the top cheesy? The mixes of greens, the greenery spread throughout the entire event, a hint of clover, greens and golds. The details were incredibly well thought out and spot on!
Makayla and Austin say that they’re wedding day was even better than they imagined! As cheesy as that seems, they know it’s the truth because everything came together so perfectly and beautifully! Congratulations, Mr and Mrs Sparr! I see an incredibly fulfilling life together and a future full of adventures, love as big as the stars, and laughter your entire life through! (Well, except for when Austin decides to just give the serious face non-stop…just saying!)
