I spent last Saturday with Alanzo and Bailey in the most laid back yet emotional wedding yet this year! I actually met these two before they were officially engaged, when I shot a session for Alanzo’s family. I remember taking photos of them sitting on a rock in the middle of a field in the most beautiful golden hour light and thinking they are going to make a gorgeous bride and groom one day. And now, that day is here!
If you missed their engagement session, you can see it here and boy, was it the polar opposite of wedding day! During the engagement session, it was autumn but very very windy and cold. On their wedding day, it was late summer and humid and everyone sweat away half their body weight throughout the day!
I was trying to find the right words to describe this wedding, because it wasn’t what you would picture when you think “country.” Other than the reception barn out at the Grainery, there were not many country touches. The overall feel was more bohemian than anything, with gorgeous wildflower centerpieces, Bailey’s simple gown and fun sandals, as well as greenery everywhere! Bailey and her Mom kept telling me the wedding was simple, and that may be true, but they pulled it off flawlessly because everything was stunning. I’ve never seen anything quite like the centerpieces before!
But more than the decor and theme, what really stuck out during this wedding was the intimate feeling. There were hundreds of guests, but they all had very individual connections to the bride and groom. I cry at almost every wedding I shoot, but during this ceremony I had a really hard time continuing to photograph the event because I was tearing up so much. Alanzo and Bailey’s personal friend Jakob (who also just got married if you remember his wedding) was the officiant at the ceremony. Besides the fact that Jakob is one of the best public speakers I’ve ever met, it was also so endearing to hear the personal touches thrown in!
I am so excited to share these images with the newest Mr. & Mrs. Ruble as well as their many (many many) friends and family! I hope you all love them and they stand as a wonderful first family heirloom before Bailey and Alanzo get their family started!
