Wedding albums are the most important product that you will invest in after your wedding day. That’s why I include a basic starter album with my JBP Wedding Package. I believe every new married couple should have a gorgeous , high quality album to share with their friends and family.
Now, I know that this may sound “old-school” in our digital generation of instant posting to social media, but hear me out for a minute. When I started college, Facebook was just coming out, no joke, I really am that old! That means in 2004, Facebook didn’t exist the way we know it now. I think it’s possible that it doesn’t exist the way we will know it in another 10 to 15 years. So, looking at it that way, why is that the only location we want our photos to live?
Your marriage is going to last more than 15 years. Your family is going to be talking about you for more than 15 years. Imagine your future granddaughter. She climbs into your lap to ask about your magical wedding day. Do you want to pull out your cell phone and swipe through a Facebook album, or do you want to pull our a fairy tale storybook and flip through pages that tell a story?
Yes, I let my cheesy, hopelessly romantic side come out for a minute, but I speak the truth! You invest so much money and take so much time to plan a wedding, it deserves to be shared for generations to come, and on a platform other than Facebook. I know it’s very important to most brides that their wedding package come with the digital release, this way they can “own” their photos and can share and print to their heart’s desire. I’m with you, that’s easy to accomplish, but my idea here is that you should also invest in a photographer that can provide you with a beautiful book that will serve as the first heirloom in the family you will be starting soon. So, let me give you some reasons why you should prioritize a wedding album.
You will pull your album out to look at constantly throughout your long life together. In the first year, you will probably share it with any-and everyone who will sit and look. You will pull it out each anniversary and joke about how young you looked. When times get really hard, and you feel like your marriage is going to break, you can pull out the album and remind yourselves where it started and why it matters so much. You can show your children, and your grandchildren, and if you’re lucky enough, you’ll show your great-grandchildren too!
Pulling out a CD and scrolling through photos on the computer will not be the same as pulling out a book and physically flipping through the pages. Being able to hold those memories in your hand and show them off? Now that’s the good stuff!
The point is going to be mind-blowing: in my life, so far I’ve seen floppy discs, VHS tapes, CDs, micro-discs, portable hard drives – which are huge, and portable flash drives – that are small. We are now at the point where new laptops, like mine, do not have CD drives or USB ports. Everything is stored in “the cloud” even though most of us don’t understand what “the cloud” even is. All of these storage methods will be non-existent at some point.
An album, however, will last forever! If there was a house fire it would be one of the first things grabbed on the way out. Yes, I am directly referring to Jack in the fire episode of This Is Us, he’s the man! If we move again, our album would be wrapped with care and packed where I could check on it frequently. My wedding album means the world to me, and so I hope you see the value in one as well.
Remember, you hire a professional photography, so why not hire a professional to make your album as well? Bulk, discount printers are not going to watch carefully over the production of your album. However, quality printers will hand make your album and oversee every last detail that goes into the production of this item. Investing in quality will ensure your album is flawless, but as that your album will last the test of time, just like your marriage!
The beauty of this investment is that your album will arrive after the wedding and does not need to be rushed. If you need to take a few more months to save the money to invest in quality upgrades, I highly recommend you practice patience, and do so! Think of this as an heirloom and design it as such.
If you’re currently planning your wedding, and would like a photographer that “shoots for the album,” and includes a quality product in the packaging, I would love to chat with you! You can get in touch with me here. Let’s do this together!
