Imagine having the first time you meet someone be under the pressure of being trusted to document the most important day of their lives so far. That feeling you pictured is exactly how I felt meeting Shelvee and Brandon for the first time on their wedding day! I was nervous and a bit anxious driving up the long driveway and trying to figure out where everyone was getting ready. But my nerve quickly subsided once I met Shelvee, because she is incredibly genuine and welcoming. Like me, she’s a hugger and hugged me before officially introducing ourselves!
I literally walked in to a movie scene full of warm hearted, down to earth people all surrounding Shelvee and Brandon on this huge day! The house was rumbling with activity and everyone had a job to accomplish while they laughed and shared memories together. Some of the stories that I overheard were hilarious! Half of the guests were local in Iowa and the other half had traveled from Louisiana, which is where the couples currently lives. I will be up front and tell you that I am obsessed with the southern accents and I could not help myself from saying y’all to them all day long! They probably think I am crazy!
We had a short four hour window for photos and it was a whirlwind of activities! Straight from details into getting the bride and groom ready, followed by two first looks and family portraits. My favorite part was the ceremony, as it took place next to a pavilion made in memory of Shelvee’s brother and a gorgeous pond on the family property. You can tell that the family too so much care in planning every detail for their guests, from the overflowing food and drinks, to the huge tent to shade them during the mid day heat, to all of the decorations in every corner of the space! This was truly was family effort, and you can tell their hearts went into the planning and celebration of the new couple!
I feel honored to be chosen to help you document your wedding day, especially since you trusted me without actually meeting me! Congratulations, Brandon and Shelvee, you made the most handsome couple on your big day! I hope that you love your photos as much as I do, and that you have a huge, blessed life ahead of you!
