You know what the best type of bride is? A completely giddy one and that’s exactly what I was working with last Saturday with Emily and Jakob’s wedding. She could not stand waiting to see Jakob, let alone walk down the aisle and marry him! Emily might be the only bride I know who puts every single person’s needs before her own on her wedding day. She even forgot to carry her bouquet down the aisle during the ceremony because the ring bearer was crying so hard, she was trying to help soothe him right before it all started!
There’s an old joke about one person in every couple having “married up” a league. But between Jakob and Emily, I can’t figure out who is the one who married up…they are so perfectly matched! They fit together as if they were designed for only each other: their height, their selflessness and caring sides, their senses of humor and laid back nature, they’re incredibly sweet families and large groups of friends. Anyone can see that they are meant to be, which they knew since preschool when they started being friends!
Everyone in their lives loves them and I was just floored by the amount of support they have! From Emily’s Dad’s moving speech to all of the funny stories I overheard from my table of Jakob’s friends, it’s apparent that both Jakob and Emily are givers that would take care of every last person in that room if they needed to. There aren’t many moments when love is palpable (a big word I learned from Jakob during his thank you speech), but on this day is most certainly was and it made for the easiest work day ever!
There was something in Emily’s post-wedding questionnaire that really stood out to me, so I wanted to share some of her words for all future brides. When I asked her if she had any advice to ladies planning their wedding days she said “Do something FUN in the morning before the ceremony. We used our bus to go somewhere to take pictures. Listening to music and enjoying everyone together did everything to calm my nerves before the ceremony! It made everything so much more fun.” From my perspective, it was hectic trying to figure out little spots for pictures and I was laser focused. What I didn’t realize is that while I was working, the bride and groom had so much extra time to enjoy the day, which doesn’t happen often! They got to dance and sing and laugh with friends before the ceremony started! So cool to see that from her perspective!
Congratulations to the newest Mr. & Mrs. Hummel. You made a gorgeous couple on your wedding day and I hope that you are soaking up every relaxing moment on your Jamaican vacation right now!
